General School Announcements
- Kindergarten registration for next school year is today!
- Everyone is encouraged to sign up for LCHS Remind if you haven’t already. Text 81010 and type @lauderda in the text message box. Also you can follow the LCHS Facebook page and Twitter @lchstigers.
- The Anonymous Alerts app will be used by our school to allow students to anonymously report school-related incidents of bullying, fighting, threats, drug activity, and other problems.
- Parents, check your child's grades and attendance anytime using the Chalkable iNow home portal. You may get parent login information in the school office. Bring your photo ID to pick up your login information.
- Students, do not take cups out of the cafeteria. This rule applies to drink cups and slushy cups. You must throw them away in the cafeteria.
- Spring Break will be March 25-29.
- Thanks to Rogersville Baptist Church for the tissues and antibacterial wipes distributed to all teachers this week.
Announcements Related to LCHS Athletic and Extracurricular Events
- Tennis plays at Red Bay today at 3:30 pm. Tennis team members are excused today at 1:30 pm. Tennis plays at Russellville tomorrow, March 16.
- Varsity baseball plays in the Loretto St. Patrick's Day tournament today and tomorrow (March 15-16). We play Richland today at 3:30 pm and Spring Hill tomorrow at 12:30 pm, both at South Lawrence field. We play Summertown tomorrow at 2:30 pm at the Loretto Multi-field.
- Varsity softball plays in the TimesDaily Tournament today and tomorrow (March 15-16). We play Wilson today at 4:00 pm and Danville today at 7:00 pm, both at Mars Hill Bible School. We play Mars Hill tomorrow at 8:00 am at Mars Hill. Bracket play for the tournament should begin at 1:00 pm tomorrow.
- Jr high baseball hosts Russellville for a doubleheader tomorrow (March 16) at 5:00 pm.
- There will be an interest meeting for all students interested in auditioning for color guard, danceline or majorette on Tuesday March 19 during 6th period.
- Cheer clinic will be Monday and Tuesday (March 18-19) from 3:15-4:30 in the Larry Sinyard gym.

- WorkKeys Makeup testing is today in the library. Please send those kids scheduled for 8:00 after attendance. Please wait for the 9:00 and 10:00 times to be called for...
- There are 7 students excused today for the 2019 FCCLA State Leadership Conference. Their names are listed on the teachers' shared calendar.
- Students in grades 9-11, if you were absent and missed Mrs. Newton pre-registering you for next school year, please come by the guidance office to pick up forms.
- Students in grades 7-12, you now have a login for FREE ACT prep...go to https://onlineprep.act.org. Username is your school email, and password is word Tiger with month and date of birth. Example password: Tiger1011 for an October 11 DOB. Other ACT resources: www.act.org/stateanddistrict/examinees and https://academy.act.org/
- All students in grades 7-12 are invited to the First Priority meetings each Thursday at 7:30 am in the high school library.
Announcements Related to School Fees and Orders
- No students or teachers should be charging food in the lunchroom. Please do not carry a negative balance on your lunchroom account. If you have a negative balance currently, please pay it off as soon as possible.
Announcements Related to Local Programs, Opportunities, Competitions, and Activities
- 10th grade ATCTC students that received applications for Shoals HIRE Academy should return applications to Mrs. Newton by March 15.
- All 11th graders will take the ACT plus Writing on Wednesday, April 24. (Note change of date.) Students do NOT have to pay for this test. Students will be allowed to go home after the test finishes if they turn in a permission note signed by a parent or guardian.
- Rogersville Church of Christ offers a free tutoring service for students. Students in 1st - 4th grades can receive tutoring in reading and math. Students in 7th and 8th grades can receive tutoring in math. Tutoring sessions are on Wednesdays from 3 - 5 pm.
- Alabama Governor’s School applications are now available. This is for current juniors with a minimum 25 composite ACT. Program takes place June 16-28 at Samford University. If interested, come to guidance department to get an application. Deadline is March 15.
- The Alabama STEM Education Program will be hosting the first STEM Expose on Saturday, May 4, 2019. Please visit the website at www.alabamastemeducation.org for additional information. All middle and high schools in the state are encouraged to participate in the STEM Expose. - Teen Volunteer Program at Helen Keller Hospital is now accepting applications. Deadline to apply is April 25. You must be at least 15 years old to participate. See Mrs. Newton for an application.
- North America Lighting now has a five-year apprenticeship program that helps students kickstart their career without college debt. Apprentices will earn a salary and work towards industry specific certifications while completing an associates degree at Northwest Shoals Community College. Interested high school seniors should submit their resume to Robert_Woolum@nal.com. Applications are due Friday, April 12. If you have any questions, contact Robert_Woolum@nal.com.
- Mississippi State School of Architecture is hosting Design Discovery June 7-13. This is for students at least 16 years of age. Cost is $600. See Mrs. Newton if you need additional information.

- University of West Alabama Spring Preview Days are March 16 and April 6. Reserve your spot by going to uwa.edu/previewday.
- Mississippi State University will be hosting Spring Preview Day on March 25. Register at PreviewDay.msstate.edu. Cost is $10 per person attending.
- Troy Tours available March 23. To register to attend, go to troy.edu/tours. Troy Trojan Day is April 13.
- University of West Alabama will be hosting spring preview day on April 6. To reserve your spot visit www.uwa.edu/previewday

Announcements Related to Scholarships, Awards, and Financial Aid
- The Tommy Smith Scholarship is accepting scholarship applications until May 31, 2019. To be eligible for the scholarship you must be a high school student that has been accepted into a college or university. Guidelines for the application: Write an essay answering the question, If you could start any business while in college or afterward what would it be and why? You must submit the form by May 31, 2019. A winner will be selected and contacted in June. Once the winner responds (within 2 weeks) the $1,000.00 will be sent to the winner's financial aid department. Interested students go to: http://tommysmithscholarship.com/
- Rural Health Scholars program is now accepting applications. This is for current juniors interested in a career in medicine or other health care. You will spend 5 weeks at The University of Alabama. Must have 3.0 GPA; 21 composite on ACT; and resident of Alabama for 5 years. Go to cchs.ua.edu/rhs to apply. (Note correction to this URL.) Deadline to apply is March 15.
- Helen Keller Hospital is offering a scholarship worth $1000 to a student that will major in a healthcare field. Deadline to apply is March 22. See Mrs. Newton for an application.
- All local scholarships offered in our community are now accepting applications. See the guidance office if you want to apply.
- The Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc Annual Scholarship is now available. The deadline for applications is Friday, March 15, 2019. If you are interested in applying for this scholarship come by the guidance department for an application.
- The Kids’ Chance Scholarship is accepting applications until May 1 for students who have a parent that was killed or permanently and totally disabled in an on-the-job accident. See Mrs. Newton if you are eligible.
- North American Lighting has selected LCHS to receive a $1000 scholarship for a graduating senior this year- you must be planning on pursuing a degree in business or a technical field. You have been emailed the application. It is due April 12.
