Announcements for Tuesday, May 24
General School Announcements
- Semester exams for students in grades 7-11 will be May 24-26. Students in regular (not dual-enrollment or AP) classes can exempt semester exams with: 1) an A average for this semester and no unexcused absences this semester, or 2) a B average for this semester, no unexcused absences for this semester, and no more than 5 excused absences for this semester. Students taking exams may leave after finishing their last exam of the day with a signed permission note from home.
- May 24-26 are half days for all students; school will be dismissed at noon each day.
- Graduation is May 27. The ceremony starts at 7:00 PM at the Robert Earl Grisham Stadium.
Announcements Related to LCHS Athletic and Extracurricular Events:
- Softball tryouts for girls in grades 6-11 will be Tuesday, May 24, at 2:30, and Wednesday, May 25, at 2:00. You must have a completed physical to participate. See Coach P with questions.
- Baseball tryouts: current 6th and 7th graders will try out Monday and Tuesday (May 23-24) after school, and current 8th-11th graders will try out Wednesday and Thursday (May 25-26) after school. See Coach Looney for more details.
Announcements Related to School Clubs, Events, Activities, and Opportunities
- Seniors graduate on Friday night! They also have a full morning on Friday. Seniors will meet for breakfast (provided by senior parents) in the courtyard area at 8:00 am on Friday. Optional cap and gown individual pictures will be taken beginning at 8:00 am. No money is required to have picture taken; you can order the pics later. A group picture will be taken in caps and gowns at 9:30 am in the Larry Sinyard Gymnasium. Mandatory practice and setup for graduation exercises will be immediately following the group photo. On Friday evening, seniors meet behind the gym at 6:15 pm.
Announcements Related to School Fees and Orders
- Senior students must pay off any fees, return books and chromebooks, return team jerseys, etc. before participating in graduation exercises.
Announcements Related to Local Programs, Opportunities, Competitions, and Activities
- Students in grades 8-11, if you have not yet completed your preregistration for 2022-2023 classes in Powerschool, you need to do so as soon as possible.
- The next ACT test date is June 11. The ACT is also given on July 16.
Announcements Related to College Admissions and Information Sessions
- Students who are taking UNA Early College summer classes need to pay for them using their UNA portal accounts.
