General School Announcements
- Students have received papers with information about the parent portal for PowerSchool. The parent portal allows parents to check grades and attendance for their children. Parents, please ask your children for this information.
- Students in grades 7-12 will have semester exams December ***14-16***. Exam grades count 20% of the overall semester grade for every class.
- Students are out of school for Christmas break from December 20 through January 3. Classes resume Tuesday, January 4.
Announcements Related to LCHS Athletic and Extracurricular Events
- Basketball (BB, VG, VB) plays at Wilson on Tuesday, November 30, beginning at 4:30 pm. Basketball (BG, BB, VG, VB) hosts West Limestone on Friday, December 3, starting at 4:00 pm.
- Junior high basketball teams (8G, 8B) host Clements on Monday, November 29, beginning at 5:00. 7B, 8G, 8B play at West Limestone on Thursday, December 2, beginning at 4:30 pm.
Announcements Related to School Clubs, Events, Activities, and Opportunities
- If you are interested in joining our NFHS Broadcasting team, please sign the form in the office.
- Seniors, check your email!
- High school students interested in tutoring after school hours, please sign a list in Mrs. Brown's office.
- Senior Banquet will be Thursday, December 9, at 7:00 pm at the Joe Wheeler State Park Lodge River Room. This banquet is only for senior students, their dates, and school chaperones. The cost is $20 per person ($40 per couple). Payment is due Friday, December 3.
- We would like for the HS students to help decorate the HS office Christmas Tree - the theme is Snowflakes - make a snowflake for our tree, make it out of whatever you want, any size, be creative. We will have a competition, snowflakes should be turned in by 12/3 to participate.
Announcements Related to School Fees and Orders
- Mrs. McCafferty's class will start selling fried oreos this week on Fridays until we leave for christmas break. They are preorder only. The forms should be turned in, to Mrs. McCafferty by Thursday before 6th period. They will sell 3 oreos for 5$. There are limited supplies so it will be first come first serve!
- Students may eat breakfast and lunch for free this year, but they will be charged for any extra food or drink. Please fill out the form to apply for free/reduced lunch rates even though everyone is getting free lunch this year. The number of students who qualify affects our Title I status. https://www.myschoolapps.com/

Announcements Related to College Admissions and Information Sessions
- Colleges and universities are now accepting applications for admission for Fall 2022.
- FAFSA online applications are open. Please see Mrs. Brown to schedule an appointment for assistance.
- Reminder to Seniors- You are only allowed 2 Job Shadow and 2 College Visits per school year. Your form must be turned in, in advance to Mrs. Stephanie Hendrix, or you will not be excused unless you use one of your parent notes.
- Registration for NWSCC Dual Credit /Spring Enrollment has been extended through Jan. 15.
Announcements Related to Scholarships, Awards, and Financial Aid
- The NWSCC scholarship application is now open. Please come by the Guidance office if you need help applying. The deadline to apply is February 15.
- The application for the Shoals Scholar Dollar Student of the Year, is now open. If you are interested in applying see Mrs Brown or Mrs Morgan. Winners receive a prize packet from area businesses, a cash prize packet and a 2 year scholarship for NWSCC and a 2 year scholarship to UNA.
- Seniors - All seniors will need to fill out a FAFSA application this year as a new graduation requirement. Go to https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa and follow instructions. If you need help, make an appointment with Mrs. Brown as soon as possible.
- Seniors, scholarship information can be found on the following sites: StudentsScholarships.org, www.fastweb.com, Cappex.com, Scholarships.com You should be checking these sites. There are hundreds of opportunities for help with college expenses.
