General School Announcements
- Today school is open. However, beginning tomorrow, school will be closed to students and employees. All facilities will be closed and all campus activities will be cancelled. We hope to resume school on Monday, April 6.
- #YouBelongHere -- Teachers, please remember to take a pic of class periods that have 100% attendance. Also, report it on the google form for 100% attendance. There will be prizes for the class with the most 100% attendance days.
- All students may eat breakfast for free this year. Please arrive in plenty of time to eat and still get to class on time.
- Our school is not accepting faxed doctors' notes to excuse absences. Please turn in paper doctors' notes to the school office. Notes must be turned in within 3 days of returning to school.
- Each student has up to five days per semester that can be excused using a parent note. Notes must be turned in within 3 days of returning to school.
- Parents, check your child's grades and attendance anytime using the Chalkable iNow home portal. You may get parent login information in the school office. Bring your photo ID to pick up your login information.

- All students in grades 7-12, check your email each school day! Please read all library notifications. You will receive an individual notification email when a book is due. You should log into your library account and renew your library books when needed. Late fines will be assessed on all overdue books checked out through the library.
- Wednesday, April 29, is a half day for students; all students will be dismissed at 11:30 am. Thursday, May 21, is the final day of school.
- Students 7-12: Properly clean and check the condition of your issued Chromebook and charger. Report damage to your classroom teacher and then to Mrs. Jones in the library. There is no charge to replace missing screws on back panel. Full replacement cost will be assessed for missing manufacturer labels.
- SchoolMint school registration information for the 2020-2021 school year has been distributed. Students received printed instructions including the existing username for their parent/guardian on SchoolMint.
Announcements Related to LCHS Athletic and Extracurricular Events
- No sports will meet, practice, condition, or play as a team while school is closed. We hope school and activities resume on Monday, April 6.
Announcements Related to School Clubs, Events, Activities, and Opportunities
- CONGRATULATIONS to Abby Roberson, Brayden Smith and Halee Sue Burgess for their success at the State FCCLA STAR Events in Montgomery this past Friday!!! Abby and Brayden each won a GOLD MEDAL. Halee Sue won a SILVER MEDAL. Abby was selected to attend the FCCLA National Convention to be held in Washington DC in July.
- Junior and Senior girls: Check your email from Mrs. Morgan. There is information about 3 prom dresses that are free to anyone who might need a dress.
- Congratulations to the following seniors for being nominated by the high school teachers to be on the Mr. and Miss LCHS court. Luke McIntyre, Eli Rayburn, Devauntae Rivers, Daniel Romine, Juvonne Shanes, Brayden Smith, Connor Smith, Larson Belew, Lily Burchell, Claire Ferguson, Clara Newton, Abby Roberson, Lilli Snoddy, Hannah Tate. Mr. and Miss LCHS will be announced at an assembly on Friday, April 10.

- Students in grades 7-12 are invited to Fresh Start on Monday mornings in the high school library at 7:30 am.
- First Priority will meet on Thursday mornings in the high school library at 7:30 am.
- NWSCC has cancelled their Experience Day for seniors on Monday, March 16.
- Prom has been tentatively rescheduled for Friday, May 1.

- The Miss Lauderdale County High School Pageant will be April 30.
- Seniors have exams on May 7-8. All underclassmen have exams on May 19-21.

- No students or teachers should be charging food in the lunchroom. Please do not carry a negative balance on your lunchroom account. If you have a negative balance currently, please pay it off as soon as possible.

- The Northwest Alabama JOB FAIR is Wednesday, April 8, from 1-7 PM. It is being held at the Northwest Shoals Community College Gym.
- Looking for a job? The City of Florence is hiring for several positions. Go to: //www.governmentjobs.com/careers/florenceal/ to see what jobs are available. Some positions include: Lifeguards, pool maintenance and pool seasonal help. Starting pay for Lifeguards for the 2020 season will be $10.75 per hour.
- Current 11th graders that are wanting to co-op next school year need to come by the guidance office and pick up your application for acceptance to co-op.
- ALL 11th GRADERS now have a FREE ACT prep account at www.onlineprep.act.org. Username is school email and password has the format Tigersmmddyy with the student's 6-digit birthdate.
- Score Plus is now offering ASVAB prep for students interested in the military.

- Seniors: Check your senior calendar regularly for updates on scholarships, college days, etc.
- Alabama Governor’s School applications for current juniors is now available. Deadline is March 16, 2020. You may find the application at http://alabamags.org/students/nomination-packet . Great program to put on your resume. Need a 25 composite on the ACT, 170 on PSAT, or 1650 on SAT.

- Union University’s College of Pharmacy is offering an overnight camp providing an opportunity for high school and college students to explore training and careers in pharmacy (open to rising 9th grade students through college seniors). - Auburn University’s McWhorter School of Building Science is offering a Construction Management Summer Academy for Young Women June 9-13, 2020. Students can apply online here (www.aub.ie/construct4women > click the Apply tab). The deadline to apply is April 1.
- Alabama Lions High School Leadership Forum will be June 19-21. Deadline to apply is May 22. This is for current 9/10/11 grade students. Cost is $150. For more info visit www.alhslf.org
- The Healing Place presents the 20th annual Healing Hearts Day Camp. This will be held Saturday, April 18, 2020 at Cross Point Church of Christ. If you are interested in being a part of this camp as someone who needs healing or if you want to volunteer for the camp, come by the guidance office for information.

Announcements Related to Scholarships, Awards, and Financial Aid
- Mike Rowe From the television show “Dirty Jobs” is offering a scholarship called the Work Ethic Scholarship Program. This is for students who plan on going straight to the job market. If you are interested go to :www.mikeroweworks.org>scholarship. The deadline to apply is March 31, 2020.
- Helen Keller Hospital is proud to offer a $1000 scholarship to worthy students who plan to attend a college or university for a course of study within a healthcare field. Applications must be completed and returned to our Scholarship Committee Chairperson, Betty Wood, 1705 Brentwood, Muscle Shoals, AL 35661. Applications must be postmarked by March 31, 2020. Come to the guidance office for an application.
- The College Board is partnering with scholarship providers connected to the SAT, PSAT/NMSQT and PST. If you are interested in any of these scholarships, come by the Guidance office for more information.
- If you are a senior member of the Key Club you are encouraged to apply for a scholarship from the Kiwanis Club of Rogersville. If you are interested come by the guidance office. The deadline to apply is March 16, 2020.
- The University of Montevallo is offering scholarships for seniors interested in poetry. If that is you... come by the guidance office for more information.
- The Stonewall Jackson Scholarship is now available. The deadline to apply is March 31. Come by the guidance office for more information.
- University of West Alabama scholarship deadline is April 15.
- The Kids Chance Scholarship is available to children who have had a parent killed or permanently injured on the job. If you want to apply, go to the Scholarships page at alabamalawfoundation.org. The deadline to apply is May 1, 2020.
- Hyundai Motor America is offering a “Women in Stem Scholarship.” Female high school seniors, who wish to pursue a STEM related field of education, should come by the Guidance office to get more information.
