School Safety Training

"Student safety is a top priority for the Lauderdale County School System," said Jerry Hill, LCSS Superintendent. In support of continual improvement in the school safety measures and a healthy school environment, Lauderdale County Schools' administrators attended the 22nd Annual Safe Schools Training Conference sponsored by The Alabama Association of School Resource Officers. This year's theme, Looking Ahead and Learning From the Past focuses on the trends and external influences that may seep and creep into school hallways and classrooms.

Learning from the experience of other school administrators, law enforcement officials, and youth advocates, administrators address the safety of the school environment. "The safety of the school environment depends on awareness, prevention, and proactive measures," according to the TAASRO materials.

Attending from the Lauderdale County School System were:

  • Casey Tate, Principal, Lauderdale County High School
  • Courtney Keeton, Assistant Principal, Lauderdale County High School
  • Josh Jennings, Assistant Principal, Lauderdale County High School
  • Dr. Auburn Wilson, Assistant Principal, Brooks High School
