Remote Learning Days
From Superintendent, Mr. Jerry Hill:
UPDATE: Due to changing weather conditions and severe threatening forecasts, all Lauderdale County schools (traditional) will be closed Wednesday, March 17, 2021. Students in traditional Lauderdale County School System schools will have remote learning on the days of March 18-19, 2021.
The Lauderdale County School System is working to open schools fully with in-person attendance and learning in the fall for the 2021-2022 school year. Part of the key to being able to do so is to make sure that our employees who choose to be vaccinated have the opportunity to receive the COVID vaccinations safely.
There are a number of LCSS employees scheduled to receive the second dose of the COVID vaccinations on March 15-17. It has been the experience of some who have received the vaccinations that they are having mild to moderate symptoms with their second vaccination.
Due to the well-documented substitute shortages and the possibility of staff members developing symptoms from their second vaccination, the following schedule will be adhered to:
Staff members are still expected to report to work each day, except Wednesday. However, if staff members are unable to report to work due to vaccination side effects they are to notify their immediate supervisor.
These remote-learning days are not “free” days for the students and teachers. Teachers are to prepare an appropriate amount of activities, lessons, assignments, tests, etc.
At the end of the remote learning days, LCSS will experience Spring Break, ready to come back and finish the school year strong.
