LCHS Honors Local Veterans

On Tuesday, November 7, all K-12 students at Lauderdale County High School participated in a program to honor our nation's veterans. Veterans from the Rogersville community were invited, and about thirty were able to attend. To begin the assembly, the LCHS Tiger Band played our national anthem, and the audience recited the Pledge of Allegiance. Ms. Emily Bailey, elementary music teacher at LCHS, led our 3rd grade students in songs to pay tribute to our veterans, including a medley of the U.S. military branch songs. The key note speaker was retired Lieutenant Colonel Corwyn Tiede, a resident of Rogersville the past 19 years, who served in the U. S. Army for 22 years. Mrs. Bridgette Newton, the LCHS Guidance Counselor, individually introduced each veteran in attendance, including two men who served in World War II. After the assembly, the veterans were treated to a reception provided by LCHS staff and community members. Thanks to all who made this program special.

Thank you, veterans, and Happy Veterans Day!
