Jerry Hill, Superintendent
A Message from Mr. Hill
Welcome to the Lauderdale County School System. As we are ready to kick off the 2021-2022 school year, it feels like a new beginning for us all. We are excited to welcome more than 8,000 students at ten school sites and the career and technical center. Our teachers, principals, and all support staff employees have worked throughout the summer getting the facilities and learning plans ready to welcome students back beginning the week of August 9.
Following the incredible different and challenging 2020-2021 school year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our goal remains to offer the highest-quality educational opportunities in an equitable way for our students. The first week of the school year will be a hybrid attendance week for all students attending in person. Students enrolled in the LC Virtual School will follow their individual learning plans. Beginning August 16, we plan for all students to attend school five days a week.
This past year was an incredibly different kind of school year as we experienced the COVID-19 epidemic. We know that students, staff, and families have experienced difficult times and for some, great losses. I am deeply appreciative to all our employees and our families as we have worked together. We met many challenges and overcame obstacles. By keeping our focus, we can say that we finished the year strong. Now, we are ready to begin a new year.
As we celebrate back to school with football, cheerleading, band, and many more activities and events, get involved at your child's school. Stay connected by updating your contact information with your school--use the communication channels to stay up-to-date and find out relevant and useful information for your child(dren) and family.
It takes us all working together to reach our District’s mission: "Together Empowering Students for Success.”
Thank you for your support of the Lauderdale County School System. When I may be of service to you, please do not hesitate to contact me.
