Substitute Information and Applications
INSTRUCTIONS FOR ALL SUBSTITUTE APPLICANTS
Steps to Substitute in the Lauderdale County School System. This is for anyone who does not currently hold a valid teaching license. The steps below must be completed for applicants seeking their first sub license AND renewal of an expiring sub license.
- Click here to read and review the information from the State Department.
- Click here to create an ALSDE number in the AIM Portal
- Click here to complete the local substitute form.
- The Lauderdale County Board of Education will apply for your AL State Substitute Teacher License when all the information above is completed. Do not attempt to apply for the state license in ACE.
- Pay the required state background check fee of $46.20 in the AIM portal. (Must complete step 2 to obtain your ALSDE number.) *If you are renewing your license, your background will attach to your account.
- Pay the $38 online fee for your state license. You can find the payment information in the AIM Portal. We no longer accept money orders.
- Attend a required training session at the Main Board of Education office. These are offered throughout the year, and dates are available on our district calendar. *Renewals do not have to attend the training class.
