ATCTC's March Student of the Month: Eric Harbin
Congratulations to Allen Thornton Career Technical Center’s Student of the Month: Eric Harbin. Eric is a junior Electricity student from Lexington High School who is currently enrolled in his 3rd class at ATCTC. According to his instructor, Mr. Tony Brown, Eric has a great attitude and work ethic which is becoming more and more rare among today’s teenagers. Since he enrolled in the Electrical program, Eric has earned his NCCER Core and Electrical 1 credentials. Eric has excellent attendance, a great GPA, and is a member of the National Technical Honor Society on the Allen Thornton Campus.
Even though Eric is only a junior, he is already making plans for after graduation as he continues to pursue a career as an electrician.
Schools in Lauderdale County will offer 2017-2018 Kindergarten registration clinics at each county school in the month of March. Children registering for kindergarten must be five years old on or before September 2, 2017, to be eligible to enter school. The following items are required for initial enrollment in public schools:
- Child's certified birth certificate
- Child's Social Security card or temporary school assigned number
- Certificate of Exemption or Certificate of Immunization (blue form IMM 50) against the following diseases: Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis, Poliomyelitis, Measles, (Rubella, Rubeola), Mumps/Whooping Cough, Varicella (chicken pox). Immunization certificates are available from the Lauderdale County Health Department or your local physician.
- Proof of residency (example: phone bill, utility bill cable bill)
During each clinic, school personnel will offer suggestions to the parents to help prepare the child for school. Parents and prospective kindergarten pupils should attend the clinic located at the school in which the child will be enrolled. The clinics will begin at 8:30 a.m.
