BES Eclipse Program Reminders

On Monday, August 21, students in grades 1-6 will have an opportunity to view the solar eclipse. Please take note of the following to help ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all.

  1. All students will receive eclipse glasses, but only students in grades 1-6 who have returned a signed permission form by Monday will be allowed to go outside to view the eclipse. Students who do not return a signed permission form will take part in an indoor activity.
  2. Parents, if you plan on joining us at 1:00 for the eclipse, please sign in at the table located at the entrance to the track. Parents will be expected to remain with their child’s class during the event.
  3. Students will need to bring a towel to sit on while on the track. Students will remain with their class/grade level during the event.
  4. Any parent in grades PreK-6 who chooses to keep his/her child at home on Monday in order to view the eclipse may send a note on Tuesday. This absence will be excused and will not count as one of the five parent notes. Any check-outs on Monday will also be excused.
  5. Remember to wear black!

Thank you for your cooperation and support!

New Website:

Our website layout has changed, be sure to check the "NEWS AND EVENTS" section for upcoming important dates and check the "STUDENT LIFE" section for copies of menus, newsletters, after-school care options, and order forms.

Registering your child:

Lauderdale County is now using an online portal to register students for school. The district is using the SchoolMint online program to enroll new students and to allow returning students to register for each year. Parents will no longer have to visit an actual school campus to get their children registered or enrolled for school. Parents will, however, still have to bring required documents, such as birth certificates and immunization forms, and fees to the school campus. The SchoolMint implementation will also drastically reduce the number of printed forms that will have to be signed and returned by parents at the beginning of the school year.
