The Lauderdale County School System will once again offer the First Class Pre-Kindergarten program, funded by Alabama's Office of School Readiness, at Brooks Elementary, Central, Lauderdale County High School, Lexington, Rogers, Underwood, Waterloo, and Wilson Schools for the 2017-2018 school year. This year, however, the registration process is changing. For the first time, all applications will be submitted online. Beginning March 1 and continuing through March 31, interested parents will fill out an electronic application to enter their eligible children into the random drawing that will take place in April. Each school will have 18 pre-kindergarten slots, except Central, which has been funded for two 18-slot pre-kindergarten classes. Children must be four years old on or before September 1, 2017 to be eligible for the program. A monthly tuition fee will be charged on a sliding income scale. The Lauderdale County School System will release specific school codes and a link to the online application in March here on the district's website and each school's website.
