LCSchools Adds 38 Buses to Fleet
The Lauderdale County School System has made a $3.1 million investment in student safety with the purchase of 38 brand new buses. The buses, purchased from Transportation South in Pelham, will be equipped with six cameras each, which will allow the driver and other school officials to view any section of the bus at any given time. The cameras will provide not only real-time access to activities on the bus, but also will record and store footage from the bus for later review, if necessary. Each bus will also feature four seats integrated with a child safety harness, as well as front and rear air conditioning. Transportation supervisor Kevin Creekmore pointed out that such an investment is a first for Lauderdale County, noting that previously 9 was the most buses that had ever been bought at one time. System officials expect to have the buses on the road by the end of this week.
