Lauderdale County Teachers Named Best In State

Two Lauderdale County teachers have been named state finalists for the annual Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST) award. Alaina Pettus of Brooks High School was one of five science teachers recognized statewide, while Lorie White of Rogers High School was one of five state math honorees. Nominees for the award must demonstrate not only a mastery of content material, but also use of innovative teaching practices and leadership outside the classroom. 2017 state nominees were recognized Thursday, October 12, at a luncheon sponsored by the Alabama State Board of Education.
