Lauderdale County Students Hear About Different Careers

Lauderdale County gifted students in grades 9-12 attended a two-day Creative Job Fair this week at the Shoals Theater. In its fourth year, the Job Fair featured speakers from a variety of career paths discussing the importance of math and science in their everyday work. The first day was for ninth- and tenth-graders and featured a veterinarian, a nurse, a nuclear turbine specialist, and a geography professor from UNA, to name a few. Eleventh- and twelfth-grade students heard from a session musician, a songwriter, a pilot, and the sheriff of Lauderdale County, among others. Students were also treated to lunch and door prizes to round out each day's activities.
