Lauderdale County Schools :: Prevention Services
Prevention Services

Welcome to Prevention Services, providing a variety of prevention resources to teachers, students, and the community. Our program is funded by several sources; Title IV Safe and Drug Free Schools and Communities Grant and the Lauderdale County School System. We have resources for substance abuse education and prevention which include illicit drug use, prescription drug use, tobacco products, and alcohol. Additionally we offer resources for the prevention of suicide, sexually transmitted diseases, and school violence.

Parenting programs are also offered through Prevention Services. Based on the Parent Project, "Empowered Parenting" is a five week program sponsored by the Lauderdale County Children's Policy Council, local churches, and the Lauderdale County School System.  This program is free to the public and scheduled six times per school year.

Peers for Life is another outstanding program that falls under Prevention Services. Students are selected for this program based on academics, teacher recommendation, and community service. They serve as peer educators in the school and perform a numerous prevention activities.
